The FIU Softball team lost all three games to the Marshall Thundering Herd over the weekend in Huntington, West Virginia.
The Panthers overall record stands at 17-24, and is in last place in the Conference USA East Division.
The Thursday game finished with a 6-0 Marshall win as the only standout player for FIU was outfielder Alexis Ross who went two-for-three with two infield singles.
FIU pitcher Kendahl Dunford allowed 11 hits and six runs over six innings while the Panthers only had three hits throughout the entire game.
Friday’s game saw a closer contest as the Panthers lost by a score of 3-2..
The Thundering Herd scored two runs in the bottom of the second inning, however FIU infielder Venessa Gallegos hit a solo home run in the fifth to cut the deficit to one.
Soon after Gallegos’ RBI, the Herd came right back with a RBI single to make it 3-1.
FIU were unable to tie up the game and lost game two.
On Saturday, the Blue & Gold saw their same struggles as they were shut out by a score of 8-0.
Marshall scored two runs within four innings,, and in the fifth, they managed to score six more runs to get the win.
Up next, the Panthers will head back to Miami for a three-game set against the Florida Atlantic University Owls. The first pitch is scheduled for Friday, April 22 at 6:00pm.
