Board Meeting Minutes for 1/17/18 meeting at Go! Ice Cream at 6:30pm

In Attendance:, Karen Coleman, Jeff Yoder, Emerson Delacroix, Sue Coles, Elizabeth Warren, Also Lindsey Schafer was in attendance as a new board member. Also, visitors Michelle Camilleri and Asim Khan.

Absences include: Shelley Williams

Old Business & Tasks: Followed up on previous meetings tasks shown in blue.

      • Write blog post about updating bylaws: will use Lindsey’s idea about what Emerson likes about heY and what it has added to their life

    1. Approved as amended (attendance)
  3. Treasurer Report
    1. Total received in 2017 $954.61 from 35 people. No contributions in 2018 yet.
    2. 0 persons in AR (from 0 member in Accounts Receivable last month)
    3. Balance for 2017: $3297.04.

 

  1. Outreach Report
    1. 182 members, which is 1 more since our last meeting. (181). We’ve exchanged 5344 which is 43 more since our last meeting (5301).
    2. 0 person applied this month. We have 0 applicants in pool.
    3. MAOTB Monthly Meeting Report:
      1. Em didn’t attend. Was in Mammouth Cave, KY.
  2. Carry-over Topic: Retreat
    1. Em sent doodle. Time that works is Sat, Jan 20th, 11am-2pm. But this time doesn’t work for Liz.
    2. Em will ask Liz DMG again. So Sat’s don’t work.
    3. Maybe wait until after Anne joins in Feb/Mar.
  3. New Topic: Lindsey – board member?
    1. Welcome to the board. She’ll be on the ballot in May.
  4. New Topic: Renew Non-Profit Status vs. Community Orgs
    1. Ferndale TB is a community org
    2. Eliz will look into what legally is required of a comm. Orgs.
    3. Could also save $1k in board member insurance
    4. Could also save on member liability insurance.
    5. Maybe could provide volunteer insurance.
  5. New Topic: Visitors: Free Faire –
    1. Free market. No umbrella org. About 40 cities in the world (G.R. and Detroit). Like a thrift store/farmers market with a stage for performers, mini market (bike repair, hair).
    2. They’ve been meeting once a month at Sr. Center. 1st meeting in Sept had a great turn out. Oct did a faire and it was just one table of things with 8 people.
    3. St. Luke’s might give space too. But not handicap accessible
    4. items/services are given away, not sold.

    6. Produce a human directory – offline. Based on relationship.  heY is actually this already.
    7. Next meeting will be 2/6/18 7-9pm or TBA. (1st Tuesdays) At Sr. Center.
